When is a picture worth two thousand words? When it’s about the famous subject and the creator

Painted in 1962, the year of her death, Andy Warhol's Four Marilyns immortalized Marilyn Monroe as an emblem of the 20th century, a theme he returned to throughout the 1960s. Though they say a picture is worth a thousand words, in this case, the photo - part of Christie's November Post-War + Contemporary evening sale - spoke volumes about both Warhol and Monroe. In this video, comprised of stock images, content from both estates and supplied photography of the work, we attempt to uncover the true meaning behind every detail.
